Many companies have spent tonnes of money, putting in lots of time consuming efforts to organize/plan for rectification, repair, maintenance and installation works at height. Conventional method of utilizing scaffold and machinery’s are costly and require wider space and safety coverage that disrupt other works and thus cost incurred time lost delay due to immobilization and/or disruption of planned maintenance services. Over a number of years these efforts tend to produce dramatic mixed results in working at height accident and incident rates. The industrial rope access technique is the safe and cost effective means of overcoming these preventable losses to the operations with correct training and integrity.
The IATRAS training covers the characteristics of a safe system of work, including equipment, legal requirements, objective hazards, risk assessment and method statements, conformity and certification, inspection, emergency considerations and rescue procedures.
The trainees have a chance to learn basic principles of movement on ropes – ascent, descent, changing from ascent to descent, changing from rope to rope, crossing a knot, aid climbing and traversing, passing re-belays and deviations, use of a back-up system, elementary rigging and rope management, elementary rescue.
